Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bodum Ceylon Ice Tea JugCustomer Review: Nice and handy, at a good price! Summary: 4 Stars
A nice product--I have this bigger version, rather than the 4-cup size, and bought it on sale at Amazon for less than the smaller version; however, the larger version now is sold out--sorry! It STILL isn't big enough! I like it so much, I bought 2 more as gifts. No recipes or instructions in the box, but here are instructions from Bodum's website:We enjoy a natural and sensual drink for what it is and not for what it has been turned into through domestic science and obscure ingredients. Nature itself provides the most delightful tastes, and tea is one of them. Making ice tea in a natural way may not be as fast as opening a bag of powder and mixing it with water, but if you are conscious about what you fill your body with, the Bodum Ceylon Ice Tea Maker is a true, relatively simple to use, alternative. Add your preferred tea leaves into the filter. Pour 3 to 4 oz of boiling water over the leaves, and fill the jug with cold water from the tap. Close the lid, and leave the tea jug in the fridge overnight. The next morning you will have a tasty iced tea. If you want it really cold pour the tea into glasses filled with ice. The SAN plastic tea maker holds 50 oz and will fit in most fridge door shelves, and we don't need to say that it is dishwasher safe.
Description of Bodum Ceylon Ice Tea JugIced tea unquestionably tastes better when it's made from whole tea leaves rather than teabags or powder. That's why Bodum, the company that has improved our coffee- and tea-brewing habits, developed the Ceylon ice tea jug, which happily accepts fresh tea leaves and filters them to produce the best iced tea this side of, well, anywhere. The user simply adds his or her favorite whole leaves to the filter. After pouring a few ounces of boiling water over the leaves, fill the rest of the pitcher with cold water, then leave it in the fridge overnight. The next morning, you'll awake to full-flavored, fresh iced tea. At no point do you need to filter out the tea leaves, as the leaves fit into a separate compartment. The pitcher holds 50 ounces of water and will fit in most refrigerator door shelves, plus it's dishwasher-safe. --Rivers Janssen
